Mission & Vision
D. Elyse Chan
I have a sincere desire to share with you the experience and knowledge about inner calm, balance and health that I have gained through my career as a manual practitioner and through my practice as a martial artist. A proactive approach to health increases the likelihood of being able to enjoy life because your body is capable of functioning as it is intended. It is always my honour to assist others in the return to and in the promotion of health while respecting that each individual is truly the expert of their own body and mind. My role is as knowledgeable guide to re-acquaint you with your innate wisdom and health.
In addition to being an experienced osteopathic manual practitioner and registered massage therapist, I am a perpetual learner. Past experiences as acting as an advisor and juror with the Canadian College of Osteopathy has developed networks and an immersion of osteopathic research. Taking additional courses keeps my knowledge current and improves my hands on skills to better serve my clients while regular practice of karate and taichi, in addition to teaching qigong helps maintain balance, focus and keen awareness of biomechanics . My goal is to bring these values, qualities and experiences to my work to provide respectful and meaningful interactions.

Mission
To encourage positive reconnection to the body and to access the health, strength, joy & love that is embodied within.
“Cultivating an inner smile in a balanced body.”
Vision
To unencumber the body of pain and restrictive tension through manual osteopathy and massage therapy and to encourage, educate and empower its owner to care for and live peacefully with ease within that body. To apply the science while respecting the art of healing touch and movement.
Some science behind the vision…
“The neurophysiological response to touch includes the release of specific chemicals and neurotransmitters that lead to neuroendocrine effects; vagal stimulation; reduction of stress, pain and depression; and enhancement of immunity. To touch someone therapeutically means we stimulate the nerves which activate in the midbrain which relates to perception of emotion and empathy. There is a connectedness within the human body, as well as to our environment that is respected.”
